MA Alumni Spotlight: Roz Rothwell

Rosalind “Roz” Rothwell (MAGIC ’16) came to us from Skidmore College with an interest in the 18th-century imperial world.  While in the MAGIC program she worked closely with Professor Alison Games and focused her research on cultural history. Now that she’s graduated, Roz has a summer internship with Meridian International Center, a nonprofit organization that works with the State Department to design historical exhibits for U.S. embassies around the world. Roz will spend her summer developing exhibits about U.S.-Japanese baseball diplomacy for the embassy in Tokyo and U.S.-Canadian arctic relations for the embassy in Ottawa.

Roz writes, “The MAGIC program’s broad transregional scope gave me a huge advantage in the application process. Being knowledgeable in regions including the Atlantic, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa made me appealing for Meridian, which works on projects for several countries at once. My own research background in cultural history also made me a strong candidate.” She hopes to continue working in public history and museums.
