Congratulations to PhD Candidates Onder Akgul and Kate Steir, who have been awarded Dissertation Research and Travel Grants by the Graduate School.

Onder will be conducting research in London for his dissertation, “Sowing the Tanzimat: Ecology, Land, and Cultivators in the Ottoman Empire in the Age of Revolutions, 1740-1840.”

Kate will be conducting research in London and in Guadalupe, Costa Rica, for her dissertation, “Food and Material Constraints in the Eighteenth Century Caribbean.”
