Congratulations to Kate Sampsell-Willmann, PhD Georgetown 2002, on the publication of her book: Lewis Hine as Social Critic, University Press of Mississippi Jackson, 2009.  Kate was a student of Emmett Curran, Jo Ann Moran-Cruz, Dorothy Brown, and Laura Katzman. The book is the first full-length examination of Lewis W. Hine (1874-1940), the intellectual and aesthetic father of documentary photography. A copy of the book is now at the front of the department.
